Day 1: The Iron Pour
We came for day one of this festival to see what this "Iron Pour" was all about. Here, we ran into a familiar face. Check out our video to see more of what went on...



Day 2: The Music Festival

Hope Heritage Days

We checked out Hope Heritage Days and one booth really caught our eye. Julius and Cammille Shoaf make pure honey. They had the bees to prove it! Their business is Shoaf Apiaries...get yours by e-mailing them at beecrazy@sbcglobal.net





We found some Hopesters taking a break from all the festivities to pose for a picture with us. Dorothy and Ruth have are long time residents of Hope and were anxious to share their favorite aspects of this historic community.



We were anxious to see that even the Justice League was represented at this festival, even it if is at a small temporary tattoo booth!

Exploding Engine

We checked out the "exploding engine" at the Cummins plant. Here we ran into Matt, a Cummins employee, who gave us a brief rundown of what we were looking at. Outside, of course was the engine all put together. It was heavy.




Now, as we were completing this challenge, we couldn't help but notice the metaphorical similarities between our professions as therapists and what we saw with the engine. First, you have all the pieces; everything is there, but not quite working the way it is suppose to. To have the Cummins quality, high performance machine, some adjustments must be made. We are no mechanics, but by assessing this particular engine, it looks like it could use some screws tightened, parts rotated, and a few wrenches turned in order to make this a functional engine. As a speech therapist and physical therapist, we work together in a multidisciplinary facet to help patients get there their life back. We try to give them their working engine back so that they can rev through life.

River Rat Grove

After searching far and wide, we finally "traveled" to this place to "unravel." We couldn't help but to maintain this "rat" theme.





Along our search, we ran into David (current Cummins employee) and Tom (Cummins Retiree) who frequent this peaceful place on at least a weekly basis this time of year. They were happy to pose in a rat themed photo with us. They enquired on forming a team in the amazing race...we explained that Columbus YOUNG Professionals was always open to suggestions (do we have a suggestion box or something like Taco Bell?) and they could take this up with the bosses :)

Random Act of Kindness

Many of those who were devastated by the flood continue to have a difficult time with the simple, day to day things. We thought we could help out by gathering and delivering some food with the help of volunteers from the Eastside Community Center.




Jeff, Ashley, and Connie, who all work at Cummins were also ready and willing to lend a helping hand in packing up boxes of food to be delivered.

At the corner...

Workers at this local eatery, Ashley and Megan, took a minute to pose in a picture with us. All we can say is, the food was AWESOME. What we ate? Well, if we told you that, we would be saying WAY too much!



...of Beale St and Elvis Presley Blvd. We found him...the man, the myth, the legend! As you can tell by our reaction, he's just as dreamy as we remember.

Mmmmm....Hot Meal!

Taking some time to serve some hot meals to some hungry folks. It was our pleasure to work with Judy and the gang from First United Methodist Church. We served chili, breadsticks, green beens and lots of cake and pies to the people who stopped in.
